After exploring the city, fly to Lukla to start your trek. The trip concludes with a return flight to Kathmandu, and airport transfers are included to ensure a smooth travel experience.
Welcome to Nepal! On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be met by our team and transferred to your hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu’s vibrant tourist district. Once settled, your trekking guide will meet you for a briefing and kit check to ensure you’re fully prepared for the adventure ahead. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your guide as you soak up the excitement of the journey to come.
It’s an early start as we head to the airport for the iconic flight to Lukla, a thrilling journey that offers incredible views of the Himalayas. On arrival, we’ll meet our porters and begin trekking, following the Dudh Koshi River through picturesque villages to Phakding. This gentle introduction allows you to ease into the altitude and enjoy the lush surroundings. You'll also be able to get to know your guide. And, as this is a private trip, will be able to start getting to know each others' pace.
Crossing the Dudh Koshi River multiple times via suspension bridges draped with prayer flags, we’ll trek through pine forests and charming Sherpa villages. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, where the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. As we ascend, the first glimpses of Everest emerge, spurring us on to Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the Khumbu region.
Today is all about acclimatisation. We’ll hike to the Everest View Hotel, where panoramic vistas of Everest and Ama Dablam await. After returning to Namche, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the vibrant market town, relax in a café, or visit the Sherpa Culture Museum to learn about life in the mountains.
Spend another day acclimatising and immersing yourself in local culture. Join a Sherpa cooking class to learn traditional recipes, followed by a delicious meal you’ll prepare. In the afternoon, unwind with a rejuvenating massage—perfect for recovering from the trek so far and supporting a local tourism initiative.
Leaving the main trail, we head toward the peaceful village of Thame. The route is quieter, offering solitude and stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Thame is home to one of the region’s oldest monasteries, and this tranquil setting provides a unique glimpse into Sherpa life.
Trekking further into the mountains, we make our way to Lungden, passing yak pastures and remote Sherpa settlements. The trail gradually ascends, allowing for steady acclimatisation and offering ever-changing views of the rugged landscape.
Today’s trek is a highlight as we tackle the Renjo La Pass (5,360m). The steep ascent is challenging but incredibly rewarding, with breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse and the turquoise Gokyo Lakes from the top. We descend into the stunning Gokyo Valley, ending the day in the village of Gokyo.
Enjoy a day to rest and explore the Gokyo Valley. We’ll take a short trek to the Fourth Lake, a serene spot surrounded by snow-capped peaks. This day is designed to help you acclimatise further while soaking in the natural beauty of this remarkable region.
Rise early for a climb to Gokyo Ri, a vantage point offering panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu and Makalu. After descending, we’ll continue to Thaknak, crossing the Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in the Himalayas. The terrain is rugged but incredibly scenic, with icefalls and moraines adding to the drama.
Another challenging day awaits as we cross the Cho La Pass (5,420m). The trail is steep and icy in places, requiring careful navigation, but the views from the top are worth every step. After descending, we’ll reach Lobuche, a small village near the Khumbu Glacier.
Today’s the day! We’ll trek to Gorak Shep and then continue to Everest Base Camp, following a rugged trail along the glacier. Standing at the foot of the world’s highest mountain is an unforgettable experience. After spending time at Base Camp, we’ll return to Gorak Shep for the night.
An early start takes us up Kala Patthar (5,545m) for the best sunrise views of Mount Everest. The climb is steep but incredibly rewarding. After descending, we’ll trek back to Lobuche, reflecting on the breathtaking landscapes and the challenges overcome.
The trek continues with a crossing of the Kongma La Pass (5,550m), the highest of the three passes. This is a physically demanding day, but the stunning views from the top make it worthwhile. We’ll descend into the Imja Valley, reaching the village of Chhukung.
A shorter day takes us to Island Peak Base Camp, where our climbing guide will conduct a training session on using ropes, crampons and other equipment. This preparation ensures you’re ready and confident for tomorrow’s summit attempt.
The highlight of the trek! We’ll start before dawn, climbing steep trails to the glacier. Using fixed ropes and technical gear, we’ll ascend to the summit of Island Peak. Standing at 6,165m, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views of the Everest region. After descending, we’ll return to Chhukung.
This extra day is reserved in case of bad weather or unforeseen delays during the summit attempt. If not needed, it can be used for rest or additional exploration in the Imja Valley.
The descent begins as we retrace our steps through Pangboche and Tengboche, enjoying stunning mountain vistas. We’ll arrive in Namche Bazaar, where you can celebrate the completion of the trek’s toughest stages.
Our final day of trekking follows the Dudh Koshi River, passing through forests, suspension bridges and Sherpa villages. It’s a chance to savour the beauty of the region one last time before reaching Lukla for an evening of celebration.
An early morning flight takes us back to Kathmandu, where you’ll have time to relax or explore. In the evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate the adventure and reflect on the incredible journey.
This contingency day is reserved for any delays due to weather. If not needed, use it to explore Kathmandu’s temples, markets or historic sites.
