Start your day with a guided tour of Cartagena, diving into its rich history and culture. Visit San Felipe de Barajas Castle, perched on a hill with commanding views of the city, and the peaceful La Popa Monastery. Wander through the lively Bocagrande district before an afternoon cooking class, where you’ll prepare and savour traditional Colombian dishes. It’s the perfect way to connect with the local culture.
Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Take a stroll through Cartagena’s colourful streets, browse local artisan shops, or relax at a rooftop café with a view of the Caribbean. Alternatively, head to a nearby beach to soak up the sun and unwind.
Travel along Colombia’s scenic northern coastline to Santa Marta, the country’s oldest city. After checking in, join a guided walking tour of the city, exploring landmarks like the Cathedral, vibrant plazas and the lively Malecón waterfront. Learn about Santa Marta’s historical significance and its role in Colombia’s rich past.
Adventure begins! Drive to El Mamey, the starting point of the Lost City trek. From here, hike through dense rainforest, crossing rivers and passing waterfalls to reach Donde Adan Lodge. Along the way, enjoy a refreshing swim in the river and take in the serene jungle surroundings. Covering 9km in around 4 hours, this first day eases you into the trek.
Today’s hike takes you deeper into the jungle, covering 13km in about 6 hours. Pass through indigenous Kogi settlements, lush valleys and dense forest trails. The challenging terrain is rewarded with breathtaking views and the peaceful setting of Paso Lorenzo Lodge by the river.
The highlight of the trek awaits as you hike to Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City). Explore its ancient terraces and learn about the Tayrona civilization with your guide. After a few hours at the site, trek back to Mumake Lodge, covering around 9 hours of walking. It’s a long day but deeply rewarding, both physically and culturally.
On the final day of the trek, descend back to El Mamey, passing familiar landscapes with a new perspective. Covering around 4-5 hours, the route takes you through lush greenery and across rivers before arriving at the trailhead. Enjoy lunch and transfer to your eco-friendly hotel near Tayrona National Park for some well-deserved relaxation.
