A community club awarded national “Sports Club of the Year” in 2013, and based in Ilkley, Yorkshire, well known for great cycling lanes and hills, and the Tour De France Grand Depart.
Ilkley Cycling Club is a large British Cycling Go-Ride certified club with regular group rides which are inclusive with easy, social rides through to challenging rides for competitive racers. Club rides take place on Thursday evenings and Tuesday and Sunday mornings, but members are encouraged to add group rides and events directly to the website so that others can join to try different rides and meet new people. For juniors, coached training sessions are run by the Club‘s qualified coaching team.
The Club is actively involved in the the development of cycling within the Yorkshire region, building on the success of the Tour De France and Tour De Yorkshire, by continuing to organise events such as the White Rose Classic sportive and Ilkley Town Centre Races. Competitive success has come with the Club being the most successful community club in the British Cycling Yorkshire Regional Rankings over the last 5 years, and having riders ride at National Championships.
An active social side provides opportunities to meet off the bike, including screening of cycling events over a drink, weekends away, warm weather training in Mallorca, BBQ and Christmas parties.
