Ample parking is available around Peterborough City Centre.
This year's Great Eastern Run route has been improved following feedback from runners and key organising partners. This route gives spectators better views as well as runners a chance to improve on their previous personal best times and ensures that 100% of the route is based on roads / tarmac.
The route takes runners through a section of the city centre, one of the unique aspects of the course, along with passing through the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral, featuring in the race route for the first time ever in 2023.
Total climb = 65 metres. That's an average of 3 metres per km.
Race pacing from 1:30 to 2:45.
The awesome team of pacers are available within the event to pace you to your desired time, and hopefully your new PB! The Pacers team is made up entirely of local runners - and will be available to pace for these times:
1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30 and 2:45.
There are 5 water stations on course.
3 hours 30 minutes.
Please note there is a cut off to ensure all roads can reopen on time.
In ear headphones are banned, but UKA approved bone conducting headphones are acceptable. Anyone seen to be wearing in ear headphones will unfortunately be disqualified as per UKA rules.
Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female runners, and category winners.

The course is flat and fast so ideal for first timers or anyone looking for a PB. This years race was very well organised with a prompt start, marshals were helpful and supportive on the way round. Lucy B

Awesome event, so well organised and friendly. Robbie B
Being able to run through the Cathedral grounds was a great addition. The volunteers that help did such a beautiful job. Thank you to everyone involved as if it weren’t for you all I wouldn’t be able to run around the city that means so much to me. Great job everyone. Karl H
Always a great day and this year proved even better than ever! Really great atmosphere, great course and brilliantly organized! Makes every runner want to come back again and again! Already looking forward to next year. Chris M
Great event. Good road course. Fantastic medal. Clare M
A superb day. Lots of local car parks and great travel links with the Peterborough train station a 10 minute walk to start line. The start areas are well organised with a team of pacers , the course is flat and fast. Great provision of toilets on the route with the water stations, rare for a half marathon to have such good on-course provision. The support in Peterborough is electrifying, this is a much loved event and people come out to support runners. The route saw the addition of the Cathedral which adds a really unique aspect to the course. A very decent medal and goodie bag. The route allows for a chance of a PB, I will be back next year. A superb half marathon and an essential addition for your autumn running calendar. Secret R
