Event overview

A long-established and highly coveted event.

It is the perfect opportunity to test your pace, hydration, and nutrition for future marathons but is also a great course for those new to the distance and a delight to race. If the conditions are right on the day, then a fast race with a nippy PB is highly likely. Runners of all standards are welcome. And, the course is a joy too!

Participants will head out to the north of the town and cover a pretty, rural out and back route through the quiet lanes surrounding the town before making their way back to Lydd to finish at the Sports Club. The has been officially measured and carries a certificate of course accuracy.

Ran this event as pre-marathon training. Really well organized could not fault the friendly marshaling and organization... achieved a PB and the medal is one of the nicest I have seen and post-race plenty of refreshments. Will definitely run again. Martin J

This is a brilliantly timed run for marathon training - 4-5 weeks before Brighton/London, flat as a pancake and well supported... this is a great, affordable race that serves a very clear purpose - the roads are quiet, the scenery is nice (as long as you like fields and trees) and the support is wonderful! Ian D

The marshals were excellent and there was plenty of water out on the course. Sarah M

Would definitely run it again. Darren H

This event fell in nicely with my marathon training plan, so was an early entry in my racing diary. Hayley L

Friendly and welcoming. Mike C

The event has a simple feel to it, no nonsense, friendly happy atmosphere that seemed to be a great stepping stone for those doing spring marathons. Mike C

I’ve done this race several times so I know what to expect. It's a PB course. It is also very exposed and the winds can be brutal. Overall it is well organised with lovely friendly marshals on the course and in the bag drop. Kate M
