Storm the Fort utilises Brean Down, a ridge like land mass that protrudes into the Bristol Channel between Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea to deliver a traffic free course on the down that even enters the old fort buildings to really add to the atmosphere!
This course has a couple of cheeky climbs to access the down but all on good trails and tracks. Making your way around the course you’ll climb steeply onto the down before a nice steady section out to the fort before climbing a short technical section to gain the main ridge before dropping back down to the finish line!
A clear night makes for stunning nighttime views across to South Wales and back towards Weston. It’s a stunning venue to run at night, you won’t be disappointed.
This event is part of Dark Skies Series | Storm the Fort.
Enter the whole three-event series or just Storm the Fort. The choice is yours. The bespoke wooden finisher’s medals are available as an optional extra, can you collect all three?
Torches are mandatory.
These events are taking place in the winter months and therefore all entrants must ensure that they have appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. All runners are required to wear a head or chest torch with at least 250 lumens of power – those who do not have a head or chest torch on the night will not be allowed to enter.

All medals are dated with the year. This event firmly believe that a medal should be a memento of the event you’ve completed and you’ll never receive the same medal year on year.
You are celebrated as you cross the finish line! There will be a camera linked to a laser to automatically take your finish photo! Don’t forget to smile and get those arms raised.
The course was so much fun to run around, and it's nice to have encouraging and friendly marshals along the route. As a 'slow runner' it's great to be treated the same as any other runner and still have people cheering me through the finish line! No better way to spend a Saturday night! We look forward to the next one! Thanks to the team and everyone who organises the events! Paige D
