Are you ready to take on the toughest one day ultra cycling challenge in the *UK? It's tougher than the Yorkshire Beast, tougher than the long Dragon Ride and much tougher than the Majorca 312!*
The Legend returns for 2025 with a new start and finish and an even better route that still includes many iconic climbs & showcases the very best that Dartmoor has to offer. On this years course there are only a few miles you ride more than once as you'll see from the map. However you do pass our main feedstation at Postbridge three times. We'll be taking a bag there for any competitors who'd like one, where you can leave spare kit and food.
GPS trackers mean friends and relatives will be able to ‘dot watch’ and see your progress online during the event.
All participants must register online in advance of the event. There will be no entry-on-the-day. The Event HQ opens the day before for participants to register and collect their Ride Packs. Or there is emergency registration which opens at 3.30am.
The Dartmoor Legend will start at 5am and riders are required to finish by midnight. The time limit of 19 hrs is based on an average of 10.5mph including all stops and breaks!
*Based on speaking to finishers of these events who also rode the Dartmoor Legend.
It's a tough but achievable challenge. You'll need to train regularly for several months to complete this event.

Princetown is renowned for taking prisoners but the Dartmoor Legend takes none! This epic route is against a pace clock. You will pass through Princetown three times, on each occasion, any rider who falls behind the minimum pace to finish by midnight will be required to retire from the event. The GPS trackers, now offered to all distances, mean friends and relatives will be able to ‘dot watch’ and see your progress online during the event.
The Dartmoor Legend will start from Princetown, the very heart of Dartmoor National Park. All participants must start between 04:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs on Saturday and are required to finish by midnight. The time limit of 20 hrs (from 4 am) is based on an average of 10mph including all stops and breaks!
Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:
For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees
New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.
Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A £2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.
Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.
Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.
At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get £5 discount.

Brilliant communication throughout. Extremely friendly event with all the event staff going above and beyond. Ted K
Great day, really friendly staff at the feed stations offering a good selection of food and tea (which makes a big difference and don't get at all events)! Staff went the extra mile for people offering sun cream and asking if everyone was ok which was really nice. No queues and great stop locations with toilets. Nice to have a longer sportive as a real challenge. Richard B
What a great event! 200 miles around Dartmoor incorporating all the iconic climbs. A long and extremely tough day but what an achievement at the end! Some real type II fun. The course was really well marked and the route files well made. Friendly helpers at the feed stations making sure you were well stocked and hydrated especially towards the later stages. Mike P
Incredibly tough day in the saddle, but what rewards of views and landscape of Dartmoor. Brilliant challenge to ride the whole of Dartmoor in ONE day! Very well organised with good stops, guidance and support the whole day. Jake W
Fantastic and very tough event but it was a shame and disappointing the lack of people who took part. It has a potential to be a very popular event. The trackers were a great addition for supporters to track where the riders are. I think the signage to the headquarters could be improved and more information about parking at the venue would be useful especially if there will be a larger number of participants in the future. Overall a superb day. Victoria W
Fantastic event, well organised, very challenging but rewarding views of Dartmoor. Jeff T
