A fantastically fun array of night-time trail running races, set in the beautiful Haldon Forest, close to Exeter.

With races ranging from 1K to 10K, all ages and ability levels are well catered for, with fantastic event organisation offering professional chip timing, a fully marked and marshalled course, with free event photos, a great finishers medal and prizes for winners and teams.

Embrace the season with this superb experience of racing under the cover of darkness in a fun, safe and thrilling manner.

  • 16:00-17:50 | Registration is open
  • 17:00 | Kids races mass start (1K is one lap, 2K is two laps)
  • 17:40 | Kids presentation6.00pm 10K Canicross starts (1 lap)
  • 18:01 | 10K Starts (1 lap)
  • 18:10 | 5K Starts (1 lap)
  • 19:20 | Prize presentation. Don’t forget to give a cheer to any late finishers who come through during the presentation!

Shoe type

Trail shoes are recommended.

Kit

  • Head torch (or body-mounted torch) with fresh batteries (and spare batteries depending on your type of torch)
  • Suitable running shoes (trail shoes recommended)
  • Long-fingered gloves (not compulsory to carry)
  • Hat or buff (not compulsory to carry)
  • Long-sleeved waterproof jacket (not compulsory to carry)
  • And don’t forget to bring plenty of warm clothing to change into after the race.

By car

Haldon Forest, Bullers Hill, Kennford, Exeter EX6 7XR.

Travelling by car on the A38, turn off at the exit for Exeter Racecourse (there are no slip roads for this turning). Follow the signs for Haldon Forest Park. The nearest postcode for sat nav is EX6 7XR but look out for the roadside banners directing you to the car park.

Unfortunately The Ridge Cafe will be closing at 4.30pm.

Bag storage

There will be no official baggage drop as most people use their cars. If you haven’t arrived in a car you are welcome to leave your bag with event staff.

Fast, slightly downhill, start for the first mile or so. But what goes down must come up and there are a couple of quite tough climbs further along. Fairly smooth fine roads for the most part. The course has been trimmed slightly for this year to bring it closer to 10K.

There is a water station approx halfway through the 10K stocked with water and jelly babies.

Sustainability

  • Trees not tees

    For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees

  • Avoid single-use plastics

    New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.

  • Optional medals

    Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A £2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.

  • Reuseable zip ties and recycling

    Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.

  • Reducing car use

    At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get £5 discount.
