Overview

From the Kendal baseamp (where you can camp Fri / Sat), it’s north up the Longsleddale Valley, over the testing Garburn Pass with stunning views, and on to Windermere and Ambleside. It’s around the west side of Lake Windernere to the 50km halfway point, and on to the steep climb of Hampsfell. Some flatter terrain in the Lyth Valley, before the final climb of Scout Scar with some of the best views of the Southern Lakes, and on to the very welcome finish line and celebration back at Kendal basecamp.

The 2 Day Full 100km Challenge breaks down the 100km Kendal looped route into 2 halves; 49 km on Day 1 (Sat) and then 51km on Day 2 (Sun), so you get to experience this fantastic route, with its stunning views, in daylight. You’ll also have the opportunity to get some well-earned rest and sleep overnight at the halfway venue with indoor accommodation at the YMCA. A great way to take on an epic challenge!

How to start fundraising

You need to create your fundraising page on JustGiving within 48 hours of registering for your challenge. Then you can start your fundraising by sharing your page online with your friends and family.

Fundraise as a team

As long as you’re all fundraising for the same charity, you can create a team fundraising page on JustGiving. You will still have to reach the combined total fundraising amount as the target is per person, not per team.

Fundraising concerns

Speak to your charity about any worries. They are the experts and will offer you support, materials and inspiration throughout.

Remember only 50% of the target has to be reached 3 weeks before the challenge meaning you’ve got time after the challenge to impress everyone with your achievement and keep on fundraising.

Help for you

If you don’t reach the fundraising target, there are alternative options. You can always change to a self-funded place and still take part in the challenge.

Next steps

Once you've got your charity place, your details will be passed to the charity and you will hear from them within 14 days.

An excellent experience from start to finish. The route was brilliantly marked out, the food was gorgeous and plentiful, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive if they tried, a wonderful event that I can’t praise highly enough.

An amazing event, extremely well organised with fantastic, enthusiastic staff. So much support, food, drink and tonnes of information available if you ever had any questions. I’ve done lots of different races and this ranks as one of the best. It was tough but so worth it...a little bit sad it’s over.
