This is a circular trail route around the outstanding Charnwood countryside. You will tackle Bardon Hill (Leicestershire’s highest point)-278 meters, Old John in Bradgate-254 meters and Beacon Hill-248 meters. Along the way you will pass gnarled oak trees, some of the oldest rocks in Britain, visit historic deer parks and take in some spectacular views. Charnwood Forest is famed for its craggy hills, dry stone walls and is also rich in wildlife. Look out for buzzards circling on the updrafts from the hills. Terrain: Hill peaks, fields, paths, trails, inclines, uneven terrain, gates, stiles, stepping stones and road crossings. Some spots on the route could be quite uneven on the foot and boggy at times. Elevation: Approximate 2700ft. There is a medal awarded for each finisher with a goody bag for the top 3 female and male finishers.
