Macclesfield Bikeathon | Cheshire Plain 30 Miles

Macclesfield residents will have fond memories of this popular cycling fundraiser. The Bikeathon concept is simple – book, turn up to ride and raise money for Just Drop In Macclesfield. Three Cycle Routes to suit mixed abilities. We will take you on a well-rounded tour of the area, with an opportunity to ride happily in the knowledge that your miles will be making a difference. Family Route 12 miles - The 12 mile family route heads north out of Macclesfield along The Middlewood Way towards Poynton where the route joins the road and heads south back towards Macclesfield. Cheshire Plain 30 miles - Ride around the beautiful Cheshire Plain with its quiet hedgerow lined lanes. The route heads west from Macclesfield towards Jodrell Bank then north towards the feed station at Great Warford Baptist Church. Then it is on to Alderley Edge and Mottram St Andrew before returning to the Macclesfield town centre where the welcome of the finish line awaits. Cheshire Plain 60 miles - The longer 60 mile route follows the above 30 mile route to the feed station at Great Warford. It then continues west, following quiet Cheshire lanes towards Tatton Park. From here more country lanes link to Byley where the route turns for home heading northeast back towards the feed station for another refreshment stop and the final push back to Macclesfield to collect your finishers’ goodies.
