The Roman and Medieval city of Chester is an international destination city and has much to offer visitors, including the Roman walls and amphitheatre, shopping on its unique split-level Rows dating from the Middle Ages, the famous Eastgate Clock and museums. On the outskirts of the City are the massive Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Chester Zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium.
There is ample parking in Chester city centre car parks, and other local car parks, within easy walking distance of the start. These car parks will charge a variety of fees depending on the length of time vehicles are parked. Chester Racecourse car park will not be open for runners to use.
The course starts from Chester Racecourse and heads north west out of the city along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace. Runners will then pass close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre and finishing outside the historic Victorian Town Hall and Medieval Cathedral.
90 minutes.
Chester 10K is a running event and for runners' safety the roads are closed by permission of the council. The race cut-off time is 90 minutes after your race start. Roads will re-open in line with this pace. If you fall behind this pace, for your own safety you may be asked to withdraw from the race and get into the sweep bus.
Times for runners who finish over the cut-off will not be listed on the final results.
In-ear headphones can be used. Please leave one out so you can hear the sounds around you, including warnings from marshals or blue light vehicles on the course. Therefore "open ear" bone conduction headphones are advised for enjoyment and safety.
Why not enter as a Green Runner?
You wouldn't receive a finisher's medal, t-shirt or goody bag - instead, the cost of these items would be donated to the official race charity which is the West Cheshire Foodbank.
You'd help reduce waste and support the local race charity at the same time!
Run the MBNA Chester 10K, the Essar Chester Half Marathon and either the MBNA Chester Marathon or Metric Marathon and you'll receive a fantastic Chester Triple Medal.
