Event overview

Ferry Meadows is one of the largest country parks in the region.

Situated less than three miles from Peterborough City Centre, at the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it the favourite destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.

Pumpkin Plod is a 6-hour event (if you have a 9 am start) or a 4-hour event (if you have an 11 am start). Run as far as you can during the six hours and a little bit more if you're lucky, as long as you are leaving the Base Camp by 5:59:59 you get to run another lap, there is a 5.3K lap throughout the forest consisting of gravel footpaths and some grass areas - a multi-terrain course.

You can run as much or as little as you want to, you can rest between laps if you like and head out for some more.

You may be completing your first official 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon or even ultra-marathon, or it may be your 100th or 1000th!

This race is also ideal for those who want to try and achieve a Marathon distance and for those who also want the option to push a little further, possibly an ultra but without the complications of trail ultras, with next to no navigation, no kit required, an aid station every lap and straightforward logistics.

  • Bring your own cup

This event is taking steps to be more sustainable:

  • Cupless

Runners can buy a reuseable cup at the event.

  • Car share

    Car sharing is actively encouraged.

  • Medals

Runners often have the choice between a bespoke medal for this event specifically, or a 'lucky dip medal' which is a scheme to help use up medals from other races to prevent them going to landfill.

Fantastic event. Great atmosphere, very friendly, with a tight community feel. Beautiful venue and was very lucky with the weather. Perhaps not the best place for my first Ultra but the setup made it very easy to just keep ticking the laps and miles off. Thanks to the organisers - can’t wait for the next one. Ben Cook

Great Event. My first ZigZag event and a really enjoyable day. Would struggle to suggest any improvements. Highly recommend giving the next event a go if you haven't before. The set up of 6 hours, distance options and flexibility to change on the day depending on how you're getting on is so inclusive for any ability. Thank you very much to all those involved in the organisation and running of the event on Sunday. Ian Shevki

Beautiful course but challenging with long hills. A really enjoyable event. Anon

Excellent, friendly event. Will be doing more. Carolyn Garner

Perfect running fun. This was our first race, and we tried for a distance we hadn’t run in a very long time. Being beginners, we were really impressed with how friendly and welcoming the whole event was. Brilliant experience, we immediately signed up for 3 more races! Daria Aspen
