This popular half marathon trail race takes place along the picturesque Middlewood Way and Macclesfield Canal and is now in its 11th year.
With spectacular scenery throughout the event and views up in to Lyme Park, racers and runners are in for a treat.
The 'Dave Wave'
If you're coming to run rather than race, this is the last wave to set off. Fronted by Dave Edwards of Sports Feet in Hazel Grove, it's open to anyone who fancies setting off with Dave (you don't have to be called Dave to be in it).
Change of venue for 2025
Registration will be at the Marple Tavern this year, just a short distance away from Marple 6th form college. The usual venue is currently unavailable due to to building works.
Would highly recommend to those looking for a PB on a virtually flat route on the trails or even those new to running the half distance. Mark T

This is a short distance away from Race HQ, by the Middlewood Way car park on Wood Lane, Marple, Stockport, Greater Manchester, SK6 7RE.
Parking for approx 150 cars is available at the venue and once this is full there are several car parks nearby in Marple town centre.
There will be temporary toilets at the college but not at the race start which is a 5-minute walk away from the college.
There will be no access to inside areas at the college so there will be a place to leave bags at the race start.
The route is a relatively flat pan handle out and back with the out section taking place on the old Marple to Macclesfield railway. At approx. half way it crosses over onto the Macclesfield canal towpath heading back to Marple before taking you back onto the Middlewood way for the return to Marple.
The route covers the Middlewood Way and Macclesfield Canal between Marple and Whiteley Green (and back again), with spectacular scenery and views up in to Lyme Park. Matt D

Great from start to finish which includes the booking itself through to communication, the parking, brief, the actual race and the goodies at the end. Organiser were very supportive throughout. Would highly recommend to those looking for a PB on a virtually flat route on the trails or even those new to running the half distance. Mark T
Always friendly and well organised. Good atmosphere. Great to have baggage van right at the finish. Rhona J
The pre-race briefing emails were so informative - literally no query was left unanswered! This alone was a huge help and set the tone for race day, which was equally as organised and efficient. Great course, good mix of gorgeous scenery to take your mind off the distance, and fab support from fellow runners and marshals along the way. A really enjoyable morning, and a new firm favourite in my race calendar. (The delicious flapjacks were an added bonus!) Cara B
This race has been running for several years now and is fast becoming a staple in the pre-spring marathon calendar. It’s a low cost and extremely well organised event from a small but dedicated local organiser. The route covers the Middlewood Way and Macclesfield Canal between Marple and Whiteley Green (and back again), with spectacular scenery and views up in to Lyme Park. The course is essentially flat, with a slight incline in the first half but, of course, that turns into a slight descent on the homeward leg. As a trail race, the route is very sensitive to the conditions, but the MWW is usually in a good state, but the canal towpath is more prone to mud. Road shoes on a good day, consider trail shoes if the canal is particularly bad! Matt D
Great race, good value, will definitely be doing it again next year. Kerry B
Absolutely fantastic event. Highly recommend it. Really good value for money. Great organisation - i think they underestimated the number of toilets needed hence the race started late - but registration was a breeze. Marshalls were really friendly and great flapjacks atbthe end for refuelling. The course is very flat. The stretch along the canal is really pretty. This is my secknd race organised by Crazy legs and i will be booking more. Rebecca B
This was my first trail half and I loved it. Sam L
