Race through the centre of Sunderland and along coastal roads, in one of the North's biggest running events!
The first Sunderland city 10km was held in 2011 with just over 1500 taking part. Years later the Sunderland City Runs welcome 5000 participants to the city streets in a celebration of running across a range of distances.
Come and join in one of the north's largest running events that races through the city and along the seafront, with two of its famous bridges providing a stunning backdrop to all three distances. No matter if you’re a first-timer or an experienced runner, the course and atmosphere are conducive to fast times as well as a lot of fun.
With spectacular coastal views and a brilliant atmosphere, a superbly organised event is guaranteed with plenty of support on the route and an army of enthusiastic volunteers to make it a great day for all taking part.
Everybody is welcome to run - no matter how fast you are!
If you do fancy racing, there are prizes up for grabs for podium finishers.
The Sunderland City Runs are some of the biggest races in the North.
See you on the start line!

Absolutely fab experience. Janice W
Excellent event. Well marshalled. Great interaction by organisers. Great value for money. Plenty of drink stations. Great atmosphere. Michael B
Loved the pre-race village and watching the participants of the5 k race, great having the events together. Lovely local route, taking in the coast and Roker park - should appeal to visitors travelling to take part from other areas. Great marshalling, had no problems. Love my medal - thank you, will be back next year! Lindsay W
First local 10k run I've taken part in, absolutely loved it, such a good day. Have to say it was very well organised, and everyone was very helpful and friendly and such a great atmosphere all over. Angela L
