Event overview
Tavistock Triathlon uses the amazing Olympic legacy 50m pool at Mount Kelly. Itβs not just 50 metres long but has wide, 3 metre lanes. The 25m pool next door is used for the kids triathlon.
The bike is on quiet rolling roads and the run uses the old railway line.
The transition area and Tristars bike and run routes are in the stunning grounds of Mount Kelly College. The bike and run courses are mainly on grass around the grounds.
This event is part of Tavistock Triathlon.

- Trees not tees
Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:
Sustainability
Trees not tees
For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees
Avoid single-use plastics
New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.
Optional medals
Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A Β£2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.
Swim hats on request
Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.
Reuseable zip ties and recycling
Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.
Reducing car use
At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get Β£5 discount.

The pool is great. Having only done open water triathlons before, I did wonder how cluttered things would be in the pool but there was ample room for passing and the pool itself is lovely. Bike course was nice. All the hard work in the first half and then rewarded with a speedy downhill second half with only left turns & not at all busy and easy to follow. Run was tough with a few steep hills and a bit twisty, turny but well marshalled. I enjoyed this a lot. The pool make it good for beginners and the hills make it nicely challenging for more experienced triathletes. Really friendly marshals at transition too.
