Ciderthon aims to mix the elation of running with the taste of the ancestral drink, celebrating the culture of cider making and the enjoyment of drinking it.
Often the two activities are seen as mutually exclusive events, but after having such a great time at Marathon du Medoc in Bordeaux, I had to bring a piece of the fun to the UK. But with a West Country twist. Nikki, Founder of Ciderthon
This event is part of The Ciderthon Half Marathon & 5K.
The races are unfortunately not canicross friendly. However, dogs are welcome at the Ciderthon Village by start and finish line of the event!
Remember that this race is a half marathon and is 13.1 miles, ensure you prepare for the run properly. You should take your decision to run on the day sensibly. If you have not prepared sufficiently and could not comfortably run 8 miles one month beforehand, you will not manage the half marathon in safety or enjoy it, so please do not attempt to run.
It is unfair to you, your family and the event staff to risk being a medical emergency, even if you are running for charity. The cider which will be provided on the route will make the run enjoyable but will likely be a different type of running which you haven’t previously experienced. This is a fun run, not a race – the aim is to enjoy it and take your time, particularly as the alcohol can make you feel out of breath.
