Starting at the beautiful waterfront in Fowey, this 40K course has a bit of everything to keep you challenged along the way...Coast, Country, Valleys, Trails, Lanes, Tors, Moors, Hamlets, Fields & Woodlands. The best of Kernow in one go! Starting off in the beautifully picturesque town of Fowey, you'll make your way North along the Saints Way Trail, following the Valley through the village of Golant, before veering NW & heading over the hills (literally..) through checkpoint 1 (11km) & on towards Helman Tor (16km). From here, you'll head south along the SW split of the Saints Way, passing through sleepy Luxulyan & checkpoint 2 (21km). Then onto St. Blazey, Tywardreath & Par, before checking into CP3 at the Ship Inn just off of Par Beach (30km). From here you make your way along the rolling coast path, through Polkerris, Menabilly & up past Gribbin Head. You'll then make your way down into the idyllic Polridmouth Cove, before heading out on the final few km's home along the coast path. You'll pass through Readymoney Cove, skirt Daphne Du Maurier's residence & head back through the lanes of Fowey, finishing up back at the Royal British Legion in the centre of Fowey! The trail is way marked but nevertheless we will equip you with a GPS tracker, fitted with a small explosive device which will detonate if you go too far off course....We can also recommend which OS maps you can make use of. You have 8 hours to complete this route. Each checkpoint will have its own cut off time as well as salt & sugar snacks plus fluids. There is a mandatory kit list that must be carried (See below) & we will have mobile medical cover on the course in case your legs fall off... We will have some snacks at the finish & the bar at the Royal British Legion will be open! (we are not buying your gin & tonics though...) Each runner will receive a Trilateral 40 medal and we will have awards for the top 3 male & female finishers!
