Event overview

This Olympic format mixed Team Relay Triathlon returns for a third year!

The event starts with one or two waves of the slowest teams. Faster teams start towards the end as a snake start (this ensures slower teams don’t finish long after the fastest teams). After the swim, it’s a short run to transition to complete four bike laps of the Velopark ride on smooth tarmac. You finish with a 2km parkland run that ends at the handover zone at the back of the pool where you hand on to your teammate. It’s a snake start swim for all subsequent team members.

You will need 4 competitors per team with a minimum of 2 female members. All male teams or 75 percent male teams are permitted and results will be published for them but they won’t be eligible for prizes. The field is limited to 40 teams to ensure a great race for all.

Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:

Sustainability

  • Trees not tees

For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees

  • Avoid single-use plastics

New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.

  • Optional medals

Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A £2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.

  • Swim hats on request

Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.

  • Reuseable zip ties and recycling

Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.

  • Reducing car use

At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get £5 discount.
