On-site camping pitches and Camping Pods will be available at the Badaguish Centre for a small charge. The site has showers, toilets, and acres of picturesque grassy goodness.

pods

There are lots of other accommodation options in the Glenmore valley and in the nearby ski village of Aviemore (where there are also lots of shops, restaurants and visitor activities).

Aviemore and the Rothiemurcus/Glenmore are are very well set up for an overnight stay, and longer visits as part of your trip to Aviemore Triathlon.

There are good accommodation options at race HQ itself and the town of Aviemore (which has plenty of Hotel, B+B and Hostel options) is a few minutes from the start line.

Nearby activities

There are loads of outdoor activities locally, massive forests, great mountains, lots of visitor attractions (including the Reindeer Centre and the Cairngorm Funicular – both almost on the race course!).

Swim

The loch has been chosen for its superb water quality and spectacular surroundings.

The Short Fast Durty is a 500m Open Water Swim.

One lap, deep water start.

Water temperatures vary depending on the weather conditions pre-event but the loch temperature is likely to be around 13-14oC.

Bike

The mountain bike section is on a mix of great fast forest roads (some less well used, and so a bit rougher), and shorter fun-dabby-dozy twisty, narrow rooty forest singletrack.

In general, the course is mostly β€˜Blue’ standard or below for the Short Fast Durty course (with a small amount of fun singletrack thrown in).

Run

The run is on forest trails. Take 30 seconds to look around you! Bits of the course meander through rough and trackless natural forest. Mmmm, lovely.

  • Bring your own cup
  • Recycling
  • Sustainability policy

This event is trying to raise its sustainability game. Yes, it's small stuff, but it's a start, and every bit helps. There are two main changes:

  • Cups

Feed station cups are this event's biggest source of waste so it is completely stopping the use of them. There will be no cups at feed stations. You will need to bring your own hydration system, whether this is a camel back, hydration vest, soft bottle or simply bring your own collapsible cup, carry this with you and it can be topped up at the feed stations.

  • T-shirts

Many of you love and use them, however, some of them get disposed of without ever getting used. So, when you enter you will have the option to choose "No T-Shirt". The cost of your entry will remain the same, and the equivalent of the cost of your T-Shirt will be donated to the selected charity.

  • Chip timing
  • T-shirt

Included

  • Professionally organised race

The location really is truly breath taking. Just looking around at the mountains with the gigantic lochs makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Aviemore Tri feels like the gateway race into Scottish triathlon for me. It has a strong flavour of Scotland in one race – a punishingly beautiful location, tough conditions – a feeling of ‘now just get on with it’ that I have only ever had from a couple of races. Scottish MTB conditions are truly epic and far better than the places I have been in England. Lewis Williams
