Event overview
The Burrator 10K is a fast, flat route that is almost all on tarmac. It’s also one of the most beautiful 10Ks in the country and won a Racecheck Silver Award in 2023. Because of the parking situation entry numbers are limited - so enter early.
The event will be run under UK athletics rules with results appearing on Power of 10. The race is on closed roads and starts right on the Dam bridge. The stunning setting is also perfect for a PB. It starts about 1K south east of the visitor centre and does one complete loop of the reservoir and then 2/3rds of a second loop before finishing at exactly 10K about 400 metres north of HQ (the visitor centre). There is just 90 metres of climbing on this course and a top runner in good conditions could break 30 minutes. However it’s also ideal for fun runners and beginners and many competitors notch up PBs here.
There are also 2K and 1K support races for children aged 3-14. There will be four separate categories for Under 8s, 8-9, 9-11, 12-14. Kids races can expect chip timing, a finishing arch and podium presentations.
This event is part of Burrator 10K and Kids Races.

Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:
Sustainability
-
Trees not tees
For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees
-
Avoid single-use plastics
New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.
-
Optional medals
Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A £2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.
-
Swim hats on request
Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.
-
Reuseable zip ties and recycling
Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.

I really enjoyed my evening. Great atmosphere plenty of support. Only my third run. A really good friendly run for beginners. I ran/walked with an injury but felt fully included by other runners. Linda G
