And who can blame them, with an iconic road route involving over 1,500ft of ascent but which rewards runners with stunning views across five counties. Starting and finishing in the historic Plague Village of Eyam, you climb over 400 feet in the first two miles before the course levels off over the next three miles as you pass through the hamlets of Bretton and Abney. It’s then an 800ft descent over 4.5 miles towards Hathersage before a leg and lung sapping 800ft climb over two miles before the last section of the race culminating in the final 400ft descent back into Eyam. 50 ‘Walkers only’ places are available. All walkers and runners can choose between receiving a finishers Eyam Half Marathon T Shirt or having a tree planted. A 2.1KM children’s race for kids of all ages (pushchairs included). The route goes through the village and back. It is very well marshalled, but younger children should be accompanied by an adult. Entry is £3 on the day.
This event is part of Eyam Half Marathon.
