Join the Royal British Legion for a sociable hike through beautiful countryside to support the Armed Forces community. 

Walk through a Centenary Wood which commemorates the sacrifices made in WW1; you’ll hike through stunning landscapes in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Whether you come in a group or on your own, this is the perfect adventure for anyone looking to get outdoors, immerse yourself in history and challenge yourself to hike the great outdoors.

By taking part, you’ll be helping to raise vital funds and awareness so that the Royal British Legion can continue to support serving and ex-serving personnel, and their families, for as long as they need it.

On this Surrey Hills hike you’ll be able to remember a loved one and those who have served.

Accessibility

Most of the walk is off-road terrain so is not fully-accessible.

Solo walkers

The professional team will be there to support you all the way. It’s not a race so please do walk at your own pace. You can walk with your friends, family or choose to walk alone.

Teams

It’s a great day to spend with friends and family outdoors. You can create a team when you sign up, and your friends will be able to join your team.

Kit list

You'll be provided with a kit list before the event. You will need sturdy walking boots or shoes that have been worn in, and clothes suitable for all weather conditions. The items on the kit list are things that you are likely to have at home already such as water bottle, hat, sunglasses.

All routes start and finish at Epsom Downs Race Course, Tattenham Corner Rd, Epsom KT18 5LQ.

The Poppy Hike will take place in the Surrey Hills / North Downs.

By train

If travelling by public transport, there are regular train services to Epsom Station.

By bus

The event village is reachable by bus from Epsom Station (18 minutes). Buses are fairly regular, but please be sure to check your journey before you travel.

By taxi

Epsom station also has a very reliable taxi rank to take you up to the event village.

Parking

If travelling by car there is free on-site parking plus overflow.
