Join the Royal British Legion for a sociable hike through beautiful countryside to support the Armed Forces community.
Walk through a Centenary Wood which commemorates the sacrifices made in WW1; you’ll hike through stunning landscapes in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The team will make sure you have everything you need to have a brilliant day of hiking, fundraising and remembering those who have given so much for our freedom. Whether you come in a group or on your own, this is the perfect adventure for anyone looking to get outdoors, immerse yourself in history and challenge yourself to hike the great outdoors.
By taking part, you’ll be helping to raise vital funds and awareness so that the Royal British Legion can continue to support serving and ex-serving personnel, and their families, for as long as they need it.
On this Surrey Hills hike you’ll be able to remember a loved one and those who have served.
This event is part of Poppy Hike.
Most of the walk is off-road terrain so is not fully-accessible.
The professional team will be there to support you all the way. It’s not a race so please do walk at your own pace. You can walk with your friends, family or choose to walk alone.
It’s a great day to spend with friends and family outdoors. You can create a team when you sign up, and your friends will be able to join your team.
You'll be provided with a kit list before the event. You will need sturdy walking boots or shoes that have been worn in, and clothes suitable for all weather conditions. The items on the kit list are things that you are likely to have at home already such as water bottle, hat, sunglasses.

All routes start and finish at Epsom Downs Race Course, Tattenham Corner Rd, Epsom KT18 5LQ.
The Poppy Hike will take place in the Surrey Hills / North Downs.
If travelling by public transport, there are regular train services to Epsom Station.
The event village is reachable by bus from Epsom Station (18 minutes). Buses are fairly regular, but please be sure to check your journey before you travel.
Epsom station also has a very reliable taxi rank to take you up to the event village.
If travelling by car there is free on-site parking plus overflow.
The highlight for all routes is passing through England’s Centenary Wood, Langley Vale. This is 640 acres of rolling hills and grassy fields near Epsom. The wood is a living memorial to all those affected by the First World War.
There are three other Centenary Woods in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The route will be signposted and there will be marshals and support in areas along the route which are less straightforward. There will also be a front and back marker for the whole group.
The friendly events team are experts in delivering a first-class on the day experience and are here to support you every step of the way with fundraising tips and training advice.
You are encouraged to raise £250 to support the Royal British Legion's vital services and support for the Armed Forces community. The dedicated events team will support you in your fundraising efforts.

Of money you raise £25 can pay for an online training course for a veteran to help them secure a job or £100 could help someone's rehabilitation by attending an arts programme.
