The Chester Round the Walls multi-terrain race is one of the oldest races in the UK, being an almost permanent Boxing Day fixture since its inception in 1972.

Although changing almost every year due to weather and ongoing maintenance of the roman and medieval walls, the typical route is around 6.8km/ 4.25 miles, starting and finishing on the Roodee racecourse and including sections of the walls including the famed Eastgate clock. There is no longer a junior/ family fun run, just the main race.
