The start of the race is on closed roads where you have a wide section of road as a start, initially with a slight downhill then into a gradual uphill section. Once you turn off the main road you will now be running on open road but there are plenty of marshals around the course who will make drivers aware of the race. The first climb comes at approximately 1.3 miles (2Km), this is a short sharp hill. Now its time to settle into the run with a nice long section which is predominately flat or even downhill, this continues to Mile 4 (6 Km) where you will find the first water station. From here you hit the middle section of the course which is mildly undulating. This continues to mile 7 (11Km). Now you are at the bottom of Grange Hill which is short and steep. After conquering Grange Hill you will arrive at the second water station which is strategically placed outside of the Chetwynd Arms. The next section of 1.5 miles includes the longest climb. Once you hit the top you then have a fast downhill section for the remaining 1.5 miles so if you have anything left in the legs now is the time to start emptying them. This is a challenging but very rewarding course which has had great feedback with many runners returning each year.
