Charity is at the heart of the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The event is organised by Tommy's to support many charities, meaning that all profits from the event will go to good causes.
This is hugely beneficial to the charities and gives the runner advantages too, from supporting a cause that is close to your heart to securing a place in this highly sought-after event.
Committing to raising money for charity gives you motivation to get outside and run, plus all of these extras which will elevate your event experience:
Charities know that raising money is all part of the challenge, which is why they provide advice, branded materials and a personalised online fundraising page to help the donations roll in. Think videos for social media, branded imagery and testimonials from previous runners.
Whether this is your first run or your fifth, you'll need to train for it! You'll receive an in-depth training plan with guidance, plus many charities have access to expert coaches and elite runners too, who can provide exclusive tips for your race preparation. Experts include Runningwithus, Full Potential and five-time Olympian Jo Pavey!
When you show up on the day, people need to be able to see clearly that you're supporting a charity. Most charities will give you a branded and personalised t-shirt or vest to run in on the big day, and often a training top too.
When you're partway through your run and your energy is flagging, what you need is a boost from cheering spectators to keep you moving. Many charities set up a cheer station along the route, keeping an eye out for you to send up a huge cheer as you run past!
Many charities will provide refreshments and a post-race sports massage for their runners. This is the perfect way to recover alongside other people who have run for that cause.
You won't be the only person running for that charity, so it's well worth meeting other runners through the charity's invite-only social media pages! You can organise to meet up for training runs, chat with the charity's expert coaches and share tips and stories with each other to keep the motivation levels running high.
Charities buy places in this event, then give them to runners who agree to raise money for the charity – these are called charity places. Charity places are a great way to support a good cause and get a place in the event, especially if general/ballot entries are closed.

There are 2 ways to secure your place in this fantastic event:
The ballot for 2025 opened on Tuesday 18 June and remained open for one week. The ballot is free to enter and you will only pay for your place if you are successful.
Secure a place with a charity and raise/donate money for an important cause.
Places in the event are allocated using a ballot system.
You'll need to fill in an application form. It's free to enter but if you're successful you will need to pay the entry fee before the deadline. You will find out if you have been successful later in the year after which you could enter the second chance ballot or apply for a charity place if still available.
Following the announcement of the main ballot, all unsuccessful ballot applicants will automatically be entered into a second chance ballot for free.
Don't worry if you're not one of the lucky ones, you'll still be able to join a charity team to secure your place.
Save yourself ballot hassle - secure a place today.
If you'd prefer to run as part of a charity team or you weren't one of the lucky ballot applications, you can secure your place at the start line with one of these charity partners. Charities are now taking applications for places for 2025. You can search for a charity or find the cheapest registration fee or lowest fundraising amount.
Charity places are available for a nominal registration fee + sponsorship pledge.

Second time I’ve done this now as it really is a great event. Brilliant support the whole way round from everyone. Very well organised and such a good atmosphere with over 22,000 entries so nearly half the London Marathon. The medal is the best there is. I’ll be back next year as it’s my favourite event so far.
