The ultra starts at Cyfartha Castle and works its way onto the Taff Trail. After a few miles, you will split away to follow the trails alongside the River Taff heading north towards the Beacons Reservoir. Once at the far end of the reservoir, the route crosses the A470 and climbs to the summit of Pen y Fan (the highest peak in South Wales at 886 meters). Once at the top, a descent of Jacobs ladder will lead you to the Roman Road taking you to Torpantau. From here you will take the forestry track alongside Dolygaer and Pontsticill Reservoir, providing fantastic views over the valley. As you descent from the forest tracks, you return to the trails of the Taff Fechan Nature Reserve as you follow the river back to Cyfartha Castle, where you will find the finish line. This is a great route for those looking to take the step up to a trail Ultra marathon whilst also catering to experienced ultra runners.
