Swim Bike Run (formerly Go Tri Local) is ideal for people that are brand new to swim, bike and run and looking to take their first steps in a safe and enjoyable environment. Think of it as a Parkrun for Swim Bike Run. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part.
Swim Bike Run Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off-road course that is suitable for all ages and abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. Minimum distances have been set for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped, so you can do as much or as little as you want on the day.
Children as young as 6 (provided they can swim at least 25m) can take part. A parent or other responsible adult can take part with them if they wish.
Younger children can take part in the Mini Tri provided they can swim 25m unaided. Same venue, same time, same place.
You start with a pool based swim, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. In the event of bad weather the format may be changed to a duathlon or a reverse triathlon.
You do not need to be a good swimmer or biker or runner to take part.
You can swim as little as 50m or as much as 200m. You can even stop for a breather if you need to and breast stroke, front crawl and even doggy paddle are all fine. It's just backstroke that isn't permitted. Similarly, on the bike leg you'll find the smooth, flat tarmac very easy to ride on. And the run is also flat with enough time to walk around if you prefer.

There is plenty of parking in the Leisure Centre car park but you do need to pay for it.
There is some free parking available starting a few hundred metres from the Leisure Centre.
Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:
For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees
New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.
Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.
Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.
At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get £5 discount.
Thanks for providing such a well organised and marshalled event. It was our first and we will most definitely be back. Joanne Griffiths
